I just met a home-based business owner named Leslie, who has found an ingenious way to shave years off of the time it normally takes to build an income doing what you love.
It only took a few minutes of visiting with her before I realized the significance of what she has created, and I couldn’t wait to share it with you. Rather than telling you what to do, she tricks you into adopting the winning formula while you think you’re just having fun getting lost in a story.

Her book is so good, it’s been recognized in two different national literary contests and became a best-seller right out of the chute. By word-of-mouth, the first 500 readers turned into tens of thousands of readers in a very short period of time…
And the best part, is that TODAY you can download the entire story for FREE:

Go check it out. Most people can read it in just one sitting. Get lost in the story of Richard and Felicity, whose relationship is strained because they’re at the end of their financial rope, and find out what they do about it…
…your life will never be the same again. I LOVED this book. Let me know what you think. I can’t say enough about this… it’s brilliant, and one of the most effective catalysts for financial breakthroughs I’ve ever seen.

When you’re ready to purchase office equipment, you should definitely considered refurbished items. You’ll save more money this way. If you’re nervous about refurbished buying, don’t be. Here are some examples of refurbished buying:
- Product returns by consumers after trial or money back guarantee time period expires — These items are returned to the manufacturer, inspected and repackaged like new.
- Items where the box or casing was damaged in shipment.
- The item was returned to the manufacturer because of a slight defect. The part that was defective was replaced by the manufacturer, tested and then repackaged just like new.
- The item was returned because of a minor cosmetic blemish on the casing that was corrected.
- Display items that are inspected, tested and repackaged.
- Items within a box that were simply opened.
- Brand new overstocked items.
Also, before you buy a refurbished product, make sure the merchandise has a warranty and that the seller allows for returns or exchanges if you’re not 100% satisfied.
Here are the best refurbished buying outlets that I’ve used in my solo practice:
- TigerDirect

Wide selection of electronics from just about every category, including cameras, security surveillance equipments, television, motherboards, home theaters and much more.
- RefurbDepot

Outlet for manufacturer refurbished merchandise — has virtually everything electronic; including televisions, cell phones, cameras, laptops, desktops, gps, ipods, printers, scanners, refrigerators, air conditioners, video game consoles, power tools, and much more.
- Tech for Less
As the name suggests, they stock computers and almost everything electronic, including televisions, servers, mp3 players, and much more. Items generally and ideally come with manufacturer warranties.

David Stein is this week’s featured entrepreneur. He has one piece of advice that he’d like to share with other entrepreneurs.
“I think the best thing any entrepreneur can do is accept failures as valuable lessons. You may believe that you have the perfect product or service available to everyone and that the public would be foolish not to pay for that product or service. But, if for whatever reason, your product or service doesn’t sell, this doesn’t mean you should accept defeat. Just learn from your mistakes and research as much as you can until you have a successful product or service.”

Simply Factual is today’s featured entrepreneur. She has one piece of advice for other entrepreneurs.
Getting traffic to your company’s web site has to be the most vital ingredient to your profits. I use blog articles and article marketing because they drive targeted traffic to my web sites and it costs me nothing. Since articles are pure content, search engines naturally love them, so it’s easier to get your articles listed high on the search engines, which means more traffic for your company’s website. There are two main ways articles can get you website traffic:
1. Submit articles to directories:
2. Place the articles on a blog on your website.
I have free online ebooks available for anyone who needs help with article marketing and increasing traffic to their company’s website. You can find them at:

Kevin Ferere is the owner of Prosperity Unlimited, LLC. He has one piece of advice for other entrepreneurs.
“Design your business model to be flexible. Design it with the ability to stop and start, and thrive in any situation. Plan for success, but do not let failure surprise you. There were times I wanted to give up, and times where I was thoroughly discouraged. I believed in my service because I was using it on my own finances and it worked. I am always in the process of building, and even if that means building other resources around it. I expected times where business would slow down or I had to stop all together being that I am in such a transitional point in my life. So being flexible and meeting my clients where they were at always helped.”

Edmund Greene is a 14 year legal professional and a successful entrepreneur. He owned and successfully sold his boutique insurance business to a $70 million revenue company by negotiating directly with their CEO. As a former small business owner with clients ranging from the sole proprietor to Fortune 100 companies, Edmund Greene values the need to comprehend complex legal matters and respond to clients’ legal needs promptly and professionally.
Edmund, who goes by “Ed,” has one piece of advice for solo practitioners and entrepreneurs:
“Define yourself first, then focus on your business or solo practice. Until you know yourself - how can you help others? I have myself struggled mightily in my transition from the business world to the solo practice world - primarily due to “defining myself as a solo practitioner.” In the business world I was singularly focused. I provided the best legal/insurance risk management advice to commercial real estate transactions that had environmental risk associated with the financing of the property. I knew the stakeholders and how to meet each of their varying needs - some of which were highly complex - ’securitizing a contaminated property.’ Today, after a year plus of solo practice, I am finally understanding my own practice as a solo practitioner. Now I can truly be helpful to others. Part of this ‘process’ has been the idea of not being afraid to try and fail. One of my clients is selling a complex software/web based application in an area that has growing needs - but his customers don’t even know it yet! Tough sell. I have seen him try and fail at his approach to gaining customers. Now we see traction due to a different approach to clients. Given his willingness to try and fail and learn from his mistakes and redirect his efforts, cash flow is starting to increase.”

Our first featured solo practitioner is Michelle Hayden Bomberger, the founder of Small Business Legal Services PLLC, a law firm offering services focused on the unique issues small businesses face throughout their life cycles. Michelle has extensive experience in working with companies from Fortune 500 to one-person home-based businesses. She is also an entrepreneur. She not only runs her own law firm but also is the co-owner of a successful Bellevue, Washington restaurant and wine bar. This unique combination of legal and business skills brings valuable insight into Michelle’s work with entrepreneurs and small business owners.
Michelle has one piece of advice for solo practitioners and entrepreneurs:
The piece of advice I offer to clients (and failed to do myself initially) is to plan beyond “solo” stage. Many entrepreneurs start their businesses with a vision of doing “it” better and making some money. They are becoming self-employed. Before they know it, they’ve achieved the baseline of their business plan and are working night and day without a break. At that point, they must decide whether to grow beyond themselves (something that never occurred to most and they don’t have the skills to do) or scale back and make less. They are also so busy at that point that they are unable to focus on strategy, growth, and management. This ceiling can be avoided by planning for what the business will look like once the entrepreneur is maxed out.

When you start marketing yourself as a solo, the most important thing you should be able to do is state how much it will cost for you to do a specific act. Clients want to know your fees upfront. Do not beat around the bush or give a lame excuse of having to meet with the person before you can quote a price. Because the moment you do this, the client will just call another attorney and ask them for a quote.
You should also think about providing payment plans for your clients, especially in this economic climate. For example, I recently had a client email me to see how much it would cost to handle their case. They were worried that they could not afford my services. I gave them the option of paying an hourly rate or a flat fee. In addition, I gave them the option of low monthly payments with upfront down payments at varying percentages. They admitted that they had called other firms for quotes and that I was the only attorney that had given them a quote without forcing them to make an appointment. As a result of my flexibility, this client has referred six more similar cases to me. Now, imagine if I hadn’t given him a quote after our initial consultation. I would have lost seven clients.

One of the most important items that you will need to purchase for your solo is case management software (CMS). Not only will it keep you organized, but it will help to lessen the risk of malpractice claims. There are many CMS companies to choose from. Be sure that the CMS service you select has all of the following key features for the price that you’re paying.
- A centralized database of all your cases
- Creation of To-do Lists
- Conflicts of Interest checking
- Statute of Limitations checking
- Input of hourly, contingent, and transactional billable time records
- Communication logs with ability to store details of phone calls, emails, etc.
- Call-back reminders
- Schedule deadlines, appointments, and meetings by day, week, month, or year
- Generate invoices
Amicus Attorney 2009 Small Firm Edition combines all of these basic features. You can request a free trial of their products to determine if it will suit your needs. Amicus will send you a CD by mail, which will allow you to test drive the service for 30 days. You will also have access to free technical support during your trial period.
